By the end of this past semester, I was practically begging to go home. Which is funny, because I thought I was completely ready to leave, more or less indefinitely, at the end of high school two years ago. But I've come to appreciate my hometown so much more since I've left. Gorgeous weather, yummy ethnic food, and of course, a lot of my family is in the Bay Area. When I do go home, I always revert back to being a child and the laziness takes over. I love my parents, but they spoil me. So it's probably best for my development—you know, as an adult and stuff—that I spend time away from home.
I did, however, get to indulge for a couple of weeks after sophomore year ended. I ate way too much food, slept a ridiculous amount and watched many hours of TV shows. Though I did do things like wake up at 7:30 am to drive my sister to school and learn how to semi-cook, so my break wasn't completely unproductive. I also managed to do quite a lot of touristy things during my stay at home.
Let the pictures documenting blue skies and California bliss commence below:
Bottom Row: My mom has a garden where fetus carrots grow. |
My sister Amy and I went to my cousin Kate's house for homemade pizzas. I mostly fawned over Loki, her dog. Amy mostly ate strawberries and tried to take stop motion pictures of a rolling avocado. |
Just one more of Loki for good measure. |
Dad and I went to the Alameda Point Antiques Faire. Where I stalked a cute fluffy duck for a picture (top left picture). Fun facts about my dad: his selfie game is strong and he's a cool kid. |
Top: Sam, one my bestestseseteset friends from school, is interning at Google Mountain View this summer--I gave him a tour of my hometown and he took my dad, my brother and me on a tour at Google. Jury's still out on whose tour was better. Bottom: My favorite high school English teacher turned friend, Gene (it's still weird to call him by first name), invited me to watch A Raisin in the Sun at Cal Shakes with him, his wife and a teacher from my middle school. I'd forgotten how emotional and real that play is. I definitely recommend both the play and the Cal Shakes Theater. |
Sorry this post didn't really have a central theme. It was my attempt to document my few weeks in the Bay before I leave for a year. I didn't get the chance to mention everything that I did, but this was the gist of it. It was a short and sweet time.
Next stop, New York City!
[And of course, all of this happened weeks ago--yay for late postings]
